The StreetPilot 2620 is a plug-and-play portable automotive GPS navigator that features pre-loaded, detailed maps of Europe (see map below) right out of the box. This means no unlocking or uploading map data to your unit!

The unit includes a pre-programmed hard drive that stores detailed maps of Western Europe. Motorists can navigate to a specific address or to an industry-leading database of thousands of points of interest including hotels, restaurants, petrol stations, and local attractions. The intuitive, menu-driven touchscreen ensures that navigating the unit is as easy as navigating the road.

Like its predecessor the StreetPilot 2610 this unit features a high-resolution colour touchscreen with voice prompted turn-by-turn navigation and a powerful microprocessor for fast route calculation and map redraw. The system includes a unique wireless infrared remote control, which allows easy operation of the unit from a distance. The StreetPilot 2620 also offers WAAS-enabled support to ensure the highest degree of GPS accuracy.

  Do you want to find the most efficient route for deliveries or sales calls? Users can enter a series of destinations, and the StreetPilot 2620 will automatically sort them to provide an efficient route.

  Would you like to avoid traffic tie-ups or roadwork? Users can specify areas and road segments to avoid when calculating routes.
• Find Nearest on Route
  Are you running on empty? This time-saving feature allows users to limit searches for petrol stations, restaurants, etc., to upcoming points near a route.

  Users can adjust preferences for major, medium, and minor road categories.

StreetPilot 2620 GPS FAQs

Q. Is the StreetPilot 2620 just a StreetPilot 2610 with a GS MagicStor CF hard drive?
A. While the StreetPilot 2620 and StreetPilot 2610 have the same look, their internal hardware and software are different. Additionally, the hard drive shipped in the StreetPilot 2620 has specially enhanced firmware that makes it better suited for our application. The standard GS MagicStor or other hard drive available through normal retail distribution does not have these enhancements and, hence, may cause interference and will not work reliably with Garmin's StreetPilot 2610 or 2620. Use of hard drives that are not approved by Garmin may cause damage to the drive or the unit and, hence, void the warranty.

Q. Is there currently extra space on the StreetPilot 2620's microdrive for additional maps?
A. Yes. The current amount of space available for additional maps is approximately 512 MB. The preloaded mapset cannot be overwritten using MapSource. MapSource will only load maps to the remaining space on the microdrive. This amount of space is subject to change as updates occur to the preloaded database.

Q. Is the StreetPilot 2620 a USB 1.1 or 2.0 device? Can I use a Card Reader to download maps to this unit? Will a USB 1.1 or 2.0 Card Reader speed up the transfer of maps to the data card? What method will provide the fastest transfer of data to a data card?
A. The StreetPilot 2620 is a USB 1.1 device. And, yes, you can use either a USB 1.1 or 2.0 Card Reader to speed up the transfer of maps to the Data Card. Using a USB 2.0 card reader will result in the fastest transfer of data to a card reader.

Q. Can I use the "external speaker with 12/24V adapter" power cable and PC interface cable from my StreetPilot III as a backup to those included with the StreetPilot 2620?
A. The external speaker/power cable and the PC interface cable that are used for the StreetPilot III are not the same as what's used for the StreetPilot 2620. The StreetPilot 2620 utilizes a USB PC interface while the StreetPilot III uses a serial PC interface.

Q. I would like to use my StreetPilot 2620 as a handheld. Is there a battery compartment in the unit or can I purchase a battery pack?
A. While the StreetPilot 2620 is able to be plugged into cigarette lighter adapters in most cars and motorcycles, the unit does not have a battery compartment, and Garmin does not manufacture a remote battery pack.

Q. Am I able to connect an external antenna to my StreetPilot 2620?
A. Yes. The StreetPilot 2620 contains an external MCX jack which allows you to connect a GA 27C remote antenna. Please call for further details.
