StreetPilot 2610 GPS FAQs
Q. Am I able to connect an external antenna to my StreetPilot 2610?
A. Yes. The StreetPilot 2610 contains an external MCX jack which allows you to connect a GA 27C remote antenna. Please call for further details.
Q. Can I upload and download waypoints, routes, and tracks between my computer and the StreetPilot 2610?
A. Waypoints, routes, and tracks may be uploaded and downloaded between the PC and the StreetPilot 2610. However, the StreetPilot 2610 does not have the capability to perform a Trackback along a previously recorded tracklog. Additionally, if you create a route on the PC and would like to activate this route without the StreetPilot 2610 recalculating the route, you must first turn off the Automatic Route Recalculation feature. To turn this feature off, press the Menu button, select the Options icon, and choose the Guidance Tab. The first item on this tab is the Automatic Route Recalculation field. It can be configured to ensure the unit does not recalculate a route you have created on the PC.
Q. Is the StreetPilot 2610 a USB 1.1 or 2.0 device? Can I use a Card Reader to download maps to this unit? Will a USB 1.1 or 2.0 Card Reader speed up the transfer of maps to the data card? What method will provide the fastest transfer of data to a data card?
A. The StreetPilot 2610 is a USB 1.1 device. And, yes, you can use either a USB 1.1 or 2.0 Card Reader to speed up the transfer of maps to the Data Card. Using a USB 2.0 card reader will result in the fastest transfer of data to a card reader.
Q. Can I use the "external speaker with 12/24V adapter" power cable and PC interface cable from my StreetPilot III as a backup to those included with the StreetPilot 2610?
A. The external speaker/power cable and the PC interface cable that are used for the StreetPilot III are not the same as what's used for the StreetPilot 2610. The StreetPilot 2610 utilizes a USB PC interface while the StreetPilot III uses a serial PC interface.
Q. I would like to use my StreetPilot 2610 as a handheld. Is there a battery compartment in the unit or can I purchase a battery pack?
A. While the StreetPilot 2610 is able to be plugged into cigarette lighter adapters in most cars and motorcycles, the unit does not have a battery compartment, and Garmin does not manufacture a remote battery pack.
Q. Is the StreetPilot 2620 just a StreetPilot 2610 with a GS MagicStor CF hard drive?
A. While the StreetPilot 2620 and StreetPilot 2610 have the same look, their internal hardware and software are different. Additionally, the hard drive shipped in the StreetPilot 2620 has specially enhanced firmware that makes it better suited for our application.
