Quanan - 3 Sensors Adhesive - £Out of Stock
|
 |
The Quanan adhesive contains 3 sensors which radiate ultrasonic beams covering the area behind the vehicle. The beams are reflected by obstructions behind the vehicle, and re-enter the sensors. The reflected beam information is processed to calculate the distance of the obstruction.
|

The system is activated when reverse gear is engaged. As the vehicle is reversed, the digital display counts down the distance from an obstruction. When the vehicle is less than 1.5 metres from the obstruction the alarm sounder will emit intermittent bleeps. As the vehicle gets closer to the obstruction the display indicates the reduction in distance and the frequency of the bleeps increases. At 35 centimetres (approx 14 inches) from the obstruction the bleeps become a continuous tone.
Fitting It
Fitting the Quanan Adhesive system is very easy. Please note that with the exception of the black earth cable, no wires need cutting. The system comes with its own in-line fuse which must remain in service. If you do not want to attempt fitting the unit yourself we can recommend a nationwide network of mobile fittings who will come out to you at a cost of around £100.

When using the adhesive mounted sensors there should be no part of the vehicle protruding into the angle range of the sensors which would give a false alert as shown in the two diagrams below.
Processor and Wiring
Choose a location inside the boot area, which is safe from being disturbed by contents. The processor can be secured to the boot liner by the self-adhesive pad. Further securing with two self-tapping screws may be required. It is advisable to use the strain relief clips and cable tie (supplied) and to leave a small loop in each cable to prevent them from pulling.
Display Unit
Choose a location inside the vehicle to place the display unit where the cable can be hidden and reflection from sunlight is minimal. The dashboard is usually the preferred location, although adjacent to the rear window can be a suitable option. Where possible, the cable run between the display unit and the processor should be hidden in a channel way on the interior of the vehicle. |
 |
The display unit gives a read out to two decimal points in metres of the distance to the nearest object detected and besides this is a picture of a car with three lights marked L, M and R standing for Left, Middle and Right. The corresponding light for the sensor closest to the object detected will light up.
To run the cable through the interior of the vehicle into the boot area it may be necessary to remove the toroid (iron ring) by carefully passing the connector through the ring. Remember to refit it afterwards. The toroid is provided to reduce interference to the reversing system from the vehicle's other electrical systems.
Power Connections
Identify the power feed cable to the reversing light and if appropriate, use the cable splice (supplied) to connect the red fused wire. If the correct power feed cable cannot be identified, consult a dealer for your make of car.
The black earth wire may be cut to length and should be secured to a good ground point convenient to the processor.

Maintenance
No routine maintenance or adjustment is required. Dirt, frost or snow accumulated on the sensors may cause the system to activate incorrectly. Clean carefully with a soft cloth. Do not use chemicals or spirits. Applying hot water in frozen conditions may damage the sensors. The sensors can be washed carefully with warm soapy water.
Spares
Spare sensors are available to buy should you require them at a later date
Conformance
The Quanan Q2030 complies with the requirements of EN 50081-1 and EN 50082-1 relating to EMC tests for CE Marking.
What you Get
(Picture of Adhesive Sensor Set)
 |
The Quanan system includes a central processor, a digital display / audio alert unit and three ultrasonic sensors. It can be used with two or three sensors to suit your vehicle's requirements.
The system is suitable for cars and light commercial vehicles running on both 12 and 24 volt electrics. |
Adhesive Sensors
On many cars, the ideal location for the adhesive sensors is adjacent to the boot or tailgate opening, so that the cables can be routed under the rubber boot seal and hidden behind the inner lining of the boot. The middle sensor can be placed on or below the bottom of the boot lid or tailgate.
|
 |
 |
If you experience difficulty in routing the cable for the middle sensor, it can be omitted completely. The system will continue to function according to signals received from the remaining two sensors.
Make sure the paintwork is free from dirt and grease, by using the alcohol wipe (supplied) before fixing the sensors. |
The sensors may already be plugged into the processor for packaging purposes. If so, you will have to remove them before fitting. The connector should be pulled carefully from its socket. Also consider that the external wiring should be easily hidden. Please refer to the Instruction booklet for correct locations for the sensors.
