Review 1: Road Angel Navigator 6000
At long last a comprehensive combination of a GPS based police speed trap detector and satellite navigation system has been launched. This is a long awaited development from the market leader which had previously withheld the launch of this product in order to perfect it and make it the premium product you would expect from Blackspot.
For use on the road The Road Angel Navigator snugly fits into its custom-made mounting bracket and solidly suckers against the windscreen or sits on the dashboard. It powers off the vehicles 12v cigar lighter socket, but also has an in-built battery with a 2-3 hour lifespan if this is more convenient. It also means that the Road Angel Navigator can be used when walking.
The touch screen technology has been used to great effect to simplify the menu and operating system of what could otherwise be a complicated product as it provides you with just the buttons relevant to the options on screen at each stage.
Review 2: Road Angel Navigator 7000
Based on the very successful Navigator 6000, the Navigator 7000 takes things that little bit further for the more professional or extensive user with a faster processor, handy Bluetooth camera updates and the Major Road of Europe (MRE) included. Street level data for Europe is also available to buy as an accessory.
The Navigator 7000 is also waterproof to IPX6 and capable of taking OS Mapping data from Memory Map. This makes it a crossover product, suitable for mountain bikers, hill walkers and orienteering. This product is also sold under the name Adventurer 7000 when bought packaged with the OS National Parks Software, but you can buy this software separately to upgrade your Navigator 7000 to an Adventurer unit if you already have one.
Otherwise, the Navigation Software, Speed Camera Data and user interface is the same as the 6000 unit and the system delivers the same reliable instructions for navigation with safety camera alerts either when navigating or when using it as a camera detector device to protect your licence. Vent mounting brackets are also now available for the 7000 and 6000 units if you prefer not to mount your sat nav against the windscreen.
