Once just a dream from the world of science fiction; Satellite Navigation has become accessible to us all in the 21st century. Despite the science behind sat navs - to coin a phrase - it is as simple as punching in a post code on a touch screen display and off you go, but the technology does not stop there...

You can select to route via an intermediate location, you have such options as the fastest or shortest route and can choose to avoid motorways for example. You can also search for points of interest (POIs) such as hotels or restaurants which are near your destination or do a search for the nearest petrol station and get routed directly to it!

Satellite navigation systems are now multi-faceted gadgets being able to offer such additional functionality as speed camera alerts and data on other road hazards, live traffic updates and receive incoming mobile phone calls. They are also portable media devices offering digital photo storage and being able to store and play digital MP3 music / audio files and MP4 video clips.
