Parking Sensor Technology
Reverse parking sensors are an easy upgrade to your car, requiring just two wire connections to install them into your cars electronics. They are all designed to work off your vehicles reversing light power feed. When you put your car into reverse, whether it's a manual gearshift system or an automatic, power runs up to your reversing lights to let other drivers and pedestrians know that you are going to reverse.
Wiring Parking Sensors Correctly
By connecting the power cable for your parking sensors to the power cable for the reversing light your system will then automatically come on when you go into reverse, just when you need it too. You then connect the second wire as an earth to the chassis of the vehicle or some other earth point to have the system safely wired up.
Front Bumper Sensors
If you plan to install sensors on the front of the car we suggest just running them off what is termed an 'ignition switched feed', which is to say something that is only powered up when the key is in the ignition like the car stereo or interior lights. Then just run the cabling via a switch on the dashboard so you can switch them on only when needed so it doesn't constantly alert you to other cars as you approach them at traffic lights etc. You can often source a switch from your local car dealer's parts and spares department which will then match the look and feel of the other switches on your dashboard.
