As you will see in the following section, most car security press reviews tend to focus on aftermarket security additions, which you can retrofit yourself, rather than inbuilt car alarms. This is because most modern cars come with either a car alarm or immobiliser fitted as standard. You will however find here the occasional technical development effecting overall car security as we move away from the traditional car key to push button starts and remote engine management. Microscan Compact 1000 & 2000

If you are not feeling too confident on the car maintenance / electronics front and want and easy to fit alarm or a car alarm that does the basics on a budget then these two have been designed with you in mind.

With a good 120dB alarm, status LED and remote control the Compact 1000 will give and audible and visual confirmation of arming and disarming while protecting the car from anyone giving it a good whack to try and gain access and will also alert if someone manages to open a door.

The Compact 2000 offers additional protection with Ultrasonic sensors which are an additional single wire connection that you would mount at the top of the A pillars near the roof lining for further protection against broken or levered open windows.

Microscan SCL3000 Keyless Entry System.

A clever addition to any car that has central locking but only works by you putting the key in the lock. This simple to wire up radio transmitter keyfob and receiver will enable you remotely at the press of button lock and unlock your car doors.

The manufacturers claim it should work with all cars which is just as well since it's the only product of its type on the market today.
