Speed Camera Detectors
We've all been guilty of drifting over the posted speed limits when we've simply been following the car in front or paying attention to hazards on the road rather than having our eyes glued to the car's speedometer. It would be fair to say that even driving at 70mph on the motorway could be dangerous, despite that being the legal limit. So if you're accidentally or absentmindedly collecting points on your licence for SP30 speeding offences - or worse - and the postman is bringing you Notifications of Intention to Prosecute, known as NIP's, then this is where you need to be.
Hi-Tech Speed-Monitoring Devices
There are now several technological solutions to help raise your awareness of speed limits, particularly at speed camera locations, with a radar detector being the most basic form of defence. It works by sensing the radar and laser frequencies given off by many of the forms of speed trap equipment used by the police and safety camera partnerships.
GPS based detectors are a little more advanced, using a database of all the fixed camera locations regardless of the technology used and also knowing the common mobile van sites. As these gadgets are database driven they can also give you additional information such as the speed limit at the camera location. Some of these detectors also have the option of laser detection to work in conjunction with the speed camera databases.
Low Price High Technology for Safe Motoring
Satellite navigation systems have come down in price greatly over the last few years and now there are satellite navigation systems from the likes of Road Angel and Snooper, which offer comprehensive speed camera protection whether you are navigating or not.
If your licence and livelihood are in a serious situation then there is also the option of a laser jammer or diffuser. While the legality of these in some countries is somewhat of a grey area, a laser jammer will not only detect the light frequency fired from a handheld speed gun or mobile van but also fire back the same 904nm light wave used which will scrabble the signal and prevent the police or safety camera partnership from getting a speed reading from your car.
