Reverse Parking Sensors

Rather than bouncing sound signals off obstacles, an electromagnetic system creates an electrostatic force-field around the rear of the car, in much the same way some car alarm systems work, and when this force-field is interrupted by the physical mass of an object whether it's a person, car or bollard, the system will sound a warning. Furthermore it can sound the warning...

This technology is very straight forward and is employed by the major car manufacturers for their own reverse parking systems. A simple connection to the reversing light will switch these systems on whenever reverse gear is selected. They work by bouncing ultrasonic sound waves of obstacles behind the car to inform you as you get close to anything behind. Rear-View Parking...

Reverse Parking Sensors

These parking sensors can be easily fitted to your car in little more than an hour or two, with just a two-wire connection to your reversing light bulb which switches the sensors on when you select reverse gear.

Most systems use ultrasonic technology; emitting a sound wave behind the car which bounces off other objects and returns back to the sensor. This calculates the distance between the object behind and your car, based on the time taken for the sound wave to travel out and back to the car.

A few systems work on an alternative basis; generating an electromagnetic field which measures the disturbance caused by obstacles within that field as you reverse and letting you know when you're too close.
